Common questions and solutions for Migi users
The global hotkey (⌥Space) isn't working. What should I check?
First, verify that another app isn’t using the same shortcut. Open System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts and check for conflicts. You can also change Migi’s hotkey in Preferences if needed.
If the issue persists, try quitting Migi completely (right-click menu bar icon → Quit) and relaunching. macOS sometimes requires apps to re-register system-wide shortcuts after updates.
How do I create dynamic templates with variables?
Migi uses Mustache templating syntax. Wrap variables in double braces: {{variable_name}}. When you copy a prompt, Migi will prompt you to fill in each variable.
Example:
Write a {{tone}} email to {{recipient}} about {{topic}}.
Can I sync my prompts across multiple Macs?
Currently, Migi stores prompts locally in SwiftData. Cloud sync through Apple’s secure CloudKit is on our roadmap and is planned for a future update.
The floating window disappears when I switch apps. How do I keep it visible?
This is by design - Migi is meant to be summoned with ⌥Space when you need it, then dismissed automatically. We’re actively working on implementing the ability to pin the window. Keep an eye out for updates!
How do I organize prompts into folders?
Right-click in the sidebar in the Prompt Library and select “New Folder,”. You can drag prompts between folders and nest folders for hierarchical organization. Use the search bar to find prompts across all folders instantly.
Does Migi work with AI services like ChatGPT or Claude?
Migi is AI-agnostic - it manages and copies text prompts to your clipboard, which you can then paste into any AI service, text editor, or app. This design keeps Migi fast, private, and compatible with any tool you use.
